Who am I?
My name is Saki Tanaka and I love to draw. I also love the word "doodle." I’m fascinated by all kinds of in-betweens – gray areas where opposites meet. My favorite overlaps are ones that bridge the real and otherworldly, a.k.a. magic. I try to capture these moments in my work.
The AMNH has gifted me one such surreal experience through its after hours drawing sessions. It recently rekindled my forgotten love of drawing and I haven't put my pencils down since.
I studied Communication Design at CMU. I currently design by day and draw by night in Brooklyn, New York. I love the tangibility of putting pencil to paper. There's a joy in discovering where the brain takes the hand in the process of mark making. You never know where you'll end up!
